iShares Dow Jones Transport Avg May Be Best Short If This Is True

The iShares Dow Jones Transport. Avg. (NYSEARCA:IYT) has continue to rally to new all-time highs in recent days. Even today, with the market under pressure, transports are higher. Why? Simply put, lower oil prices will drive earnings. Oil and gas are one of the biggest costs the transportation companies have. As the price of oil and gas drop, earnings should ...

Short Metlife Inc It Will Pay

Over the last several weeks we have seen the yield on the 10 year note trend lower and get to levels not seen in a year. This has taken a toll on insurers like Metlife Inc (NYSE:MET), as the stock had fallen a sharp 11% over the month of July. This was due in part to lower interest rates and a declining stock market. Shares of Metlife Inc (NYSE:MET) have had ...

The SPDR S&P 500 Will Flush If This Trendline Breaks

It was just two weeks ago when the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) made a new all time high of $199.06. Since that time, the market has begun to roll over and that milestone seems like a distant memory for the bulls. The volume has definitely picked up and the selling is starting to make people nervous. So is this the big correction we have been waiting ...

CNBC Owes Bill Ackman An Apology: Herbalife Ltd. Back To Lows

CNBC hammered Bill Ackman following his 'epic' presentation on Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF). According to Ackman, this presentation was going to divulge major fraud at the company. Following his showcase event, the stock popped higher by over 25% and CNBC roasted him for days. To an intelligent trader, this pop was no more than a short squeeze that would be over ...

Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE:TSN) is trading at $35.54 -1.96. In the last six trading days the stock has fallen from near $44.00 per share. This is a monster collapse for Tyson Foods, Inc. and one that warrants major attention. The large drop is being blamed mostly on their buyout of Hillshire Brands Co (NYSE:HSH). Transports Put In Top: American Airlines Group

American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) has reversed at all time highs and is forming a potential topping tail. Topping tails are bearish signals. When this occurs at a high, it tells traders and investors that a fall is on the horizon. The iShares Dow Jones Transport. Avg. Any small slip up is being used as a reason to dump the stock and rotate money into ...

Sky is falling?

Definitely not. The stock market was recovering too fast: almost 10% within 4 months of the year? We needed an adjustment. But not this much. My target for Dow Jones for the end of this year is somewhere between 11,000 and 12,000.

Later today perhaps we will find out who the major movers of the stock market were and which institutional investors sold a lot of ...

Well I am sure everybody heard what happened yesterday and is happenining as I write this blog. Stock market is down a lot. Yesterday most major indexes were down as much as 10% and recovered at only being down 5%.

Investing in a Down Economy, Part II

I will continue talking about investing in a down economy. I decided to make this like a mini series. My suggestion to most people are, before doing anything with your money follow this three step process:

Divide your money into buckets: now bucket: money that you spent on a regular basis, short term bucket: money to be spent within next 1 to 5 years, ...

Investing in a Down Economy

If somebody asked me when is a good time to invest, my first answer would be when there is a bunch of bargain priced stocks available. And yes, now is that time. Look around. Go to the Stocks page and see the profitable and growing companies with P/E ratios of around 5. When have you ever seen good companies with their stocks at these low P/E levels?

I ...

Time to buy DELL?

Dell's new executive management is doing everything in their power to keep the company financially sound while trying not to lay off any of their staff. That is something I really respect for their effort. Instead of announcing a lay-off and having a percentage of their employees unemployed in a tougher market, they are asking their employees to take unpaid time-off.

Laying ...

The Numbers Are In - Foreclosures Are Up

As expected, the foreclosure rate was up 21% in September, according to RealtyTrac. Year over year, the foreclosures are up 71%. No surprises here, I guess. Other interesting information for California residents is that, we account for 1/3 of the nationwide foreclosures. Good news is that the rate of foreclosures slowed down from August to September.

For the last month the stock market has been going down.   A month ago, Dow Jones was hovering around 11,500 points now around 9000. A year ago, Dow Jones was at 13,522 points. Namely, in one year it lost more than 30%.  Dow Jones is back to the 2003 values.

If we ask ourselves whether the economy grew over the last 5 years we all know that there ...

September 29 2008 - What a Day!!!

The stock market went down like crazy today. I could not imagine our generation would see a depression-like market fluctuation. The Nasdaq was down almost 10%!!!

Dell is back

It is good to be a Dell stock holder today. It is good to see Michael Dell taking charge and bringing back the Dell from the downturn that she took after Michael Dell left for a short period of time. Dell launched a variety of products today: Hybrid ...

The short answer is "It depends." In order to answer this question better, let's group the type of owners of houses in US and explain how and why owning a house is an investment or not.

Who is to benefit from Hillary's Foreclosure Freeze?

Hillary Clinton promises to deliver a 3 year freeze on foreclosures.

On the surface, that appears a very noble thing to do, as she is saving some people from finding themselves "on the street". However, let's consider what that freeze would mean in more detail.

Government cannot dictate a corporation what to do, unless you live in a communist state. ...
